Book review: Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes

I’m not great at doing make up and certainly new to a proper skincare routine! I’ve been after a book for a while that will actually give good advice and is aimed at young adults rather than teenagers.

Pretty Honest had been recommended as a more in depth book than most on the market. I bought the kindle version purely because it was cheaper (£5.99 compared to £14.96) and I do love my kindle.

Overall I think it is a brilliant book for skincare, cosmetics and just general tips on beauty. Sali is.. well honest and a bit blunt but in a good way. She has the experience and knowledge to give really good advice and she breaks it down into bitesize chunks. I think it is aimed at women (and men!) of all ages really and possibly teenagers too. It has sections on; beauty to new mothers, skincare and how to overcome problems, make up for older ladies, how to look good in photos, bridal advice, etc.

The only thing that I didn’t really like is the lack of images to go on the pages. There’s a photo at the start of every chapter but that’s it really. It might be because mine was a kindle version but I don’t think it makes a difference. Images would have been useful next to the make up brush section or to illustrate what colours she was taking about.

Even so I highly, highly recommend it to anyone whether you’re new to make up like myself or someone well into their 40s, 50s, etc! £5.99 for this book is good as well considering how much is in there.

Have you read it or can recommend a book?

Helen x
